How Cargo Moves to Alaska and Hawaii
For more than 30 years, Northland has provided innovative solutions for individuals and businesses shipping to Alaska and Hawaii. Our common carrier barge service moves a vast array of commodities including heavy equipment and vehicles, boats, construction materials, and a variety of goods in steel shipping containers. With our fleet of forklifts, cranes, loaders, trucks, tractors and chassis—as well as thousands of containers and platforms—we can transport whatever you need to ship, safely and economically. We have year-round service to Southeast and Central Alaska as well as Hawaii, and seasonal service to Western Alaska ports and villages.
No Dock? No Problem
Years of experience in Bush Alaska have made us experts in the transportation, loading and discharge of construction related cargoes, often to remote, unimproved landings. Our combination of barges, landing crafts, and specialized handling equipment allow us to provide seasonal service to more than 60 remote villages in Western Alaska from Akiachak to Unalakleet.
Ship With Confidence
Our tug captains have navigated Alaskan and Hawaiian waters for decades. Our operations managers average more than 25 years of experience working in the challenging environments of the 49th and 50th states. Perhaps that's why contractors, homeowners, businesses and even entire towns rely on Northland for their cargo. And why we typically handle more than 750,000 tons of goods annually through our 70-acre facility in Seattle (Terminal 115), the West Coast's largest barge terminal.
