Paid Sick Leave Notice Requirements

The July 1 deadline for employers to begin providing paid sick leave benefits under California's new mandatory paid sick leave law (the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014) is fast approaching. Employers need to familiarize themselves with the posting, notice and recordkeeping requirements contained in the paid sick leave mandate to prepare themselves to meet the obligations created by the new law Posters.

At The Theater Gallery in the month of June are exquisite ceramic pieces by DREW  SALLEE and superb scenic photography by RALPH  FRENCH.
                    New hours at The Theater Gallery are from noon to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Exhibits change every month, and visitors are invited to enter a free drawing for a custom jewelry item. The art gallery is located next to the Sutter Theater, on the corner of Church and Plumas Streets.
A portion of the profits go to the Sutter Performing Arts Association’s effort to renovate the Sutter Theater into a performing arts center.

VENDORS SOUGHT FOR LIVE OAK FESTIVAL

Vendors are sought for the 62nd Annual Live Oak Festival slated for Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Live Oak Memorial Park.
 
Festivities begin with a Parade at 10:00 AM through the town's historic commercial district.
 
Activities at the Park, Pennington & O Street begin at 11:00 AM. The day includes entertainment provided by various local groups, children's entertainment, which includes a Bicycle Rodeo sponsored by County of Sutter Public Health, Craft & Food Vendors and the Don Bright Memorial Car Show. Admission to the Festival is FREE.
 
In addition, Bright Futures will be available to offer information. Bright Futures offers FREE monthly health and development screening to all Sutter County families with children between the ages of 0 to 5. The Bicycle Rodeo and Bright Futures will be available from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Location Change

The location of the June 19th workshop, THE CLOUD and COBRA. sponsored by the Employer Advisory Council of Yuba/Sutter/Colusa/Butte Counties has been changed.   Workshop will now be held at the Sutter County One Stop/Room 311 in building 1100, 950 Tharp Road in Yuba City, and NOT at the Peach Tree.  There is still space available, and interested people can phone Toni Costales-Servin at 530-822-5120 to register.

All businesses and organizations are invited to attend a BREAKFAST AND WORKSHOP at Peach Tree Country Club on the morning of June 19th.  The EAC (Employer Advisory Council) of Yuba/Sutter/Colusa/Butte Counties will present a half day workshop on THE CLOUD and COBRA.
Learn from Dave Overton, founder and owner of Yuba City based internet service SYIX, who will talk about the history of the internet during the last 20 years, and how to use THE CLOUD.
Melissa Ng, a Benefits Advisor at the United States Dept of Labor will speak on a wide range of health and retirement plan issues including COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, as well as retirement plan regulations. 

Breakfast and registration are at 7:30 with the two back-to- back workshops beginning at 8 am and ending by noon.  Registration available on Pay Pal on line soon, or contact Mary Drum, 530-749-4894 or email mary.drum@edd.ca.gov to request a brochure.

Volunteers Needed: United Way Day of Action June 20th

On June 20th, individuals, families and businesses across the country will participate in the eighth annual United Way Day of Action. Here in the Yuba, Sutter and Colusa area, the Yuba-Sutter United Way is holding a Community Wide Food Drive
The goal is 15,000 pounds of wholesome foods!
     Volunteers Needed: 
  
United Way Day of Action Food Drive!  
 

Volunteers are needed from 9-1 to receive donations at our drop-off locations and from 11-3 in a warehouse in Yuba City to help sort, weigh and package the food for our local food pantries.  Please call the Yuba-Sutter United Way office if you are available to volunteer: 530-743-1847.
 Our goal is 15,000 pounds of wholesome foods!
 
Cash donations are welcome and will be received online at
 www.yuba-sutterunitedway.org,
or at any of the drop-off locations on June 20th. Cash donations will be forwarded to participating food pantries and used to purchase food items, often, at a deep discount!
