About Us
We have a museum and research center that is been noted as one of the best.
Recent updates to our facility that have been completed and the exhibits always a slight change by the seasons.
Open year round for when you come back for the family events at grandma's place.
Our front room contains the General Store of Wescott, Gibbons and Bragg from the early years of the 1880's in eastern Custer County, NE. This also contains the Soda Fountain and complete Pharmacy that was in that same General Store. The store building that these item were in was moved across the frozen Middle Loup River in 1899 to the new town of Comstock.
Our other half of the building has our photo gallery, military display, dresses and textiles display, and the research center.
Solomon Butcher Gallery has pioneer photos of sod houses and the settlement of the area. His photo are mainly of the sod houses of the area due to the fact that there was no trees when the first homesteaders came here.
Military uniforms and artifacts are displayed of the multiple eras, We also have a listing of the dedicated service people of the area.
Research of all kinds, genealogy, historical (news, weather, & social), land records, towns, communities and schools. You name it we can probably find it. We have most of the names indexed for ease of locating the information on the microfilmed newspapers. Please call ahead for an appointment for specialized research.
