Dale Sorensen Real Estate creates Heroes On the MovE program in Brevard County

Dale Sorensen Real Estate, Inc. has announced the creation of a program aimed at honoring and assisting our First Responders, Active Military and Veterans, and Education Professionals when they buy and sell their homes.

Dale Sorensen Real Estate (DSRE) created Heroes On the MovE in order to reward local heroes by giving them a credit or cash rebate when they buy or sell a home.  It’s also a way for DSRE to show our heroes appreciation for what they do and the sacrifices they make every day. The program also gives a contribution to local organizations that support those same heroes.

Dozenth giraffe calf born at Brevard Zoo

Brevard Zoo welcomed a newborn giraffe on Friday, October 19. The little one, a male, was born six feet tall and weighed 158 pounds. The as-yet-unnamed calf arrived around 5:15 a.m., entering the world feet-first. He is the ninth offspring of 18-year-old mother Johari and the twelfth sired by 20-year-old Rafiki.

“The newborn giraffe underwent a neonatal exam, where we checked his overall health,” said Michelle Smurl, the Zoo’s director of animal programs. “He looked to be in great condition at his checkup on Saturday.”

The calf will remain behind the scenes with Johari for a few weeks before making his first appearance in Expedition Africa. Eight of the Zoo’s nine giraffe belong to the Masai subspecies, which is native to Tanzania and southern Kenya. Habitat loss, poaching and civil unrest pose the most significant threats to giraffe in their natural habitat.

Golf cart sponsorship program offers new outreach opportunity to local businesses

The City of Melbourne’s Parks and Recreation Department has expanded its sponsorship program to give businesses a new avenue of outreach while supporting the city’s golf courses.

The Golf Cart Sponsorship Program provides companies the opportunity to showcase their logo or advertisement on 10 golf carts for an entire year at the course of their choice, sharing their brand message with thousands of players a year. More than 60,000 rounds of golf are played annually at Crane Creek Reserve Golf Course, and 40,000 rounds a year are played at Mallards Landing. The cost of the sponsorship is $500.

Funds raised through the program will go toward the maintenance and operation of both courses. “By partnering with our golf courses, local businesses can help the city maintain quality course conditions and keep the greens, turf and club house updated and functioning at a high level while providing great customer service to Play Melbourne golfers,” said Kevin Briski, Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf.

"Becoming a cart sponsor aligned with my mission for TEAM CABLE to participate in and giving back to community organizations,” said David Cable, Realtor with RE/MAX Elite. “I would recommend other businesses take advantage of this opportunity, too. It is a creative way to increase brand recognition and build lasting relationships in our community."

For more information about becoming a Golf Cart Sponsor, please contact Jessica
Schlimme, Marketing and Development Administrator, at 321-417-1342.
