About Us
Executive SummaryBootstraps requests this grant to help with general operations to support and provide opportunities for mountain area high school students with financial need, to attend college or trade school. One of the organization’s priorities is to provide first-generation college students with the opportunity to earn more money than their parents, which in turn serves to alleviate poverty. A parent recently stated to our staff when talking about why he wanted his daughter to go to college, “I want to give to my kids what I never had.”
Higher education is fundamental to being successful in today’s world. Many families struggle to keep up with the ever-increasing financial burden of sending their children to college. Bootstraps assist families by alleviating some of this financial burden.
Organizational Mission
The mission of Bootstraps, in partnership with the community, is to support the continuing education of promising students in the mountain area, with an emphasis on financial need.
Bootstraps has a long legacy of supporting the community and being supported by the community. Many recipients return to the area to live and work, giving back to their mountain-area neighbors in many ways. By helping young adults achieve their goals of higher education, Bootstraps and supporters are contributing to the future of the community, state, and country.
