Rural Energy for America Program
Good morning:As a business leader in your community, you may know businesses that could be eligible and can benefit from our Rural Energy for America Program (“REAP”). REAP is our primary renewable energy program where we can provide grants for rural small businesses (as defined by the SBA), ranchers and farmers to install renewable energy systems to offset energy costs or to make energy efficient improvements to their operations to save money.
Through the REAP Program businesses can receive grants for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements:
· Solar panels could help offset an operations energy costs
· If permitted, wind turbines can generate power to lower on-grid energy consumption
· Small hydro power systems (less than 30 megawatts) transforms the energy of flowing water into energy
· With a geothermal system, underground reservoirs of hot water can be channeled to the surface to heat buildings or generate electricity
· Install efficient lights and equipment with customizable controls to lower electrical use
· Lower heating and cooling costs with equipment upgrades, insulation, programmable thermostats, and airtight windows, door and ducts
REAP Grants can cover up to 25% of total projects costs and can range from $1,500 to $500,000. We are accepting applications now.
