About Us
I have enjoyed providing chiropractic, acupuncture and nutritional care to Custer County, for the last 12 years at Backbone of Healthcare. I grew up on a farm near Ord Nebraska and then attended NE Community College and NE Christian College where I met my wonderful wife, Marci. Together we have four terrific children. In college I had an interest in natural healing and a desire to help others achieve good health. After much research it seemed like chiropractic would be a great fit. I graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic School in Kansas City Missouri in 2001. From there I moved to Lincoln to work at Conard-Love Chiropractic for about a year. Dr Conard specialized in alternative treatments such as nutrition, acupuncture and chiropractic. I have received post doctorate certificates in Acupuncture, Cox Technique (specialized treatment for herniated discs and arthritis) and most recently Sports Certification. I really enjoy helping people suffering from herniated discs and sports injuries.
Any spare time is filled with watching my kids participate in music, 4-H and sporting events. I also enjoy volunteering my time at church and church camp. If I can squeeze in a good football game or help my parents on the farm, my weekend feels complete.
Marci Hackel:
I’m the smiling face at the front desk here at Backbone of Healthcare! Yes, I am happily married to Dr Chad Hackel and we have four wonderful children. I grew up in Council Bluffs Iowa, attended Nebraska Christian College and received my Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Northeast Community College. At Backbone of Healthcare, I truly enjoy assisting people to wellness through sharing chiropractic care and nutrition information. Assuring that each patient’s medical and insurance information is accurate is a critical part of my responsibilities. We want each patient to receive the care they need efficiently. I look forward to assisting you any way that I can!
Sonya Atkins MS Applied Clinical Nutrition:
As the nutritionist at Backbone of Healthcare, I encourage individuals to take control of their health. The field of nutrition is growing rapidly as research shows that numerous chronic diseases and debilitating conditions can be avoided by lifestyle and dietary changes. By offering individualized science based recommendations to the people in our community I hope to improve their quality of life. Being a part of the team at Backbone of Healthcare with Dr Chad Hackel gives me an opportunity to help people live healthier lives. What is so good about being healthy? Choices! Good health allows you to choose where you will go and what you will do with this wonderful life we have been given. I am so blessed to be living the good life in Central Nebraska!
New team member, KyAnna Linder, who you may see at the front desk from time to time: I recently started working at Backbone of Healthcare helping Marci with paperwork and the front desk. I am a senior at Broken Bow High School and after graduation I plan to attend college in Lincoln. Everyday I am learning something new about nutrition and chiropractic care. I enjoy getting to know all of the patients when they come in. I look forward to meeting all of you and helping in any way that I can.
