9 Mile Garden will be hosting a viewing of Encanto on Friday, September 13th
Sing along with all your favorite Encanto songs on the outdoor big screen & donate food for a great cause!

We will be collecting donations for the Affton Christian Food Pantry.
 
Most needed items are
- Canned meats and beef stew
- Canned and dry beans
- Hearty soups
- Meal supplements
- Pasta sauce and Canned tomatoes
- Toilet paper
 
Please make sure that items are non-refrigerated and non-perishable.

This outdoor living history event will walk you through the grounds of White Haven, stopping to listen to the stories of people who lived and worked here in the 1870s. Visitors will hear the stories of historic figures like President Ulysses S. Grant, First Lady Julia Dent Grant, Ambassador James Milton Turner, and more.

Parade begins at 10:00 am.
Theme: Totally Rad-Back to the 80s
Route: Affton High School, traveling south on Mackenzie, then proceeding down Gravois Road to Weber Road, and ending at Bayless Elementary School

Judges will award winners for participants including Theme of Parade, Judge’s Choice, Most Original Entry, Best Church Entry and Best School Entry. Entries must be received by September 6 to be judged. Participation in the parade is free, but registration is required. Our Simon Day annual lecture is held in memory of historian and Ulysses S. Grant scholar Dr. John Y. Simon. Simon taught at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for many years and edited the 31 volume Papers of Ulysses S. Grant and wrote or edited several books on Grant, Lincoln, and the Civil War.

This year's guest lecturer will be Louis L. Picone, discussing his book Grant's Tomb: The Epic Death of Ulysses S. Grant and the Making of an American Pantheon. Picone has written several books on Presidential history and teaches history at William Paterson University in New Jersey.

Ambassadors are official representatives of the Affton-Lemay Chamber that serve as volunteers on the “front-line” of our meetings & events. Help educate prospective members & guests, welcome new members, and facilitate networking. Committee attends Affton-Lemay Chamber events (meetings, ribbon cuttings, social hours, etc.) and facilitates Key to Chamber Success Seminar.

Mission Statement: The Affton-Lemay Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors promote member commitment through raising awareness of Chamber activities and benefits, promoting member engagement in various activities, and serving as a connection between the chamber and its members.
