The 2024 Family History Walk will be held on Saturday, September 14 beginning at 10 a. m. at the Nickel Plate Station, 600 Troy Road, in Edwardsville. Participants will be led through parts of the Leclaire National Historic District by reenactors portraying residents from the past. This Madison County Historical Society (MCHS) event is free and open to the public. Allow two hours. For more information, call 618-656-1294 or visit the MCHS website at http://madcohistory.org.

The Historic Lincoln School Alumni Foundation (HLSAF) is asking the public to support its annual fundraiser, The 36th Annual Harry A. Penelton Golf Scramble. This charity event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Oak Brook Golf Club, located at 9157 Fruit Rd, Edwardsville, IL. 62025. They are now accepting player registrations, sponsorship donations and other contributions that could support the silent auction held during the event.

Cardiac Club is a 24-session, evidence-based wellness program designed to empower individuals with pre-hypertension, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and hyperlipidemia to improve their cardiovascular health. The program combines exercise and educational modules that cover essential heart health topics, including nutrition, exercise, stress management, and motivation. Participants will work on establishing lifelong habits through a progressive action plan with small, attainable goals.

An introductory consultation and assessment will be conducted to determine personalized exercise protocols, set tracking metrics, and ensure participants are healthy enough for the program. The ultimate goal is to guide participants toward a healthier heart and an improved quality of life through sustainable lifestyle changes.

Program will be hosted at the Glen Carbon Senior Center, Consultation dates will be on 9/16/24 and 9/20/24. Call or email for more information.

Former St. Louis Cardinals and Anaheim Angels World Series Champion Scott Spiezio will be our fourth speaker at the CNB Bank & Trust Speaker Series event. Spiezio is a homegrown Illinoisan, having attended Morris High School and later played at the University of Illinois, where he received All-Big 10 honors. Scott will share the story of his rise to success in the big leagues and his fall due to drug and alcohol use. Scott has a happy ending of recovery and rebirth through his faith and family.
