The year 2004 marked the 50th year in business for the Elizabeth Companies!Since its inception, The Elizabeth Companies has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of compression tooling, tableting presses, blister tooling, turrets and press parts in the pharmaceutical industry. The company is also a major source of quality products for hundreds of customers in the battery, catalysts, ceramic, electronics and confectionery industries.
Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. Inc., world headquarters for the Elizabeth Companies was founded by Melvin B. Peterson in Elizabeth Township, a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Starting as a six man shop in 1954, Elizabeth Carbide introduced the use of carbide punches and dies to the pharmaceutical industry in the United States, establishing themselves as innovators in the compression tooling industry, a quality the company still strives for today.
The Elizabeth Companies moved into the new millennium with three well established subsidiaries: Elizabeth Carbide Components, Elizabeth Carbide of North Carolina and Elizabeth Hata. With the help of these divisions, Elizabeth Carbide has maintained a history characterized by growth in size and capabilities, dedication to product quality and innovation, and a strong commitment to customer service.
In 2000, the Elizabeth Companies purchased EPMO of Blois, France; a known leader in tablet compression and blister packaging tooling, in an effort to increase manufacturing capacity and to provide unsurpassed service to the European community.
In a second significant acquisition, the Elizabeth Companies purchased Scheu & Kniss of Louisville, Kentucky, the United States leader in the manufacturing of quality tablet press replacement parts and rebuild services.
Growing and expanding upon 50 years of tireless commitment to complete product excellence and customer satisfaction, the Elizabeth Companies continue to meet the challenges facing its customers in traditional and in emerging industries throughout the world.
The move to a global economy proceeded at a pace few had anticipated. Today international business is no longer the exclusive market of giant conglomerates ….. smaller companies like the Elizabeth Companies have now moved into world markets, providing a level of performance that larger and multinational firms can only wish for.
Elizabeth’s worldwide capabilities are built upon the same foundation that assures the success of its clients: comprehensive design capabilities, state-of-the-art-engineering, constant attention to quality control throughout the manufacturing process and a strong commitment to service before and after shipment.
The complexity of the global economy confronts businesses with daily challenges which test our experience and our responsiveness. The Elizabeth Companies mission is to partner with their customers to ensure these challenges are met effectively and successfully.
