Welcome to the Grinchiest Event of the Year!

The Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce is thrilled (and just a little grumpy) to announce our third annual Grinchmas Holiday Parade and Marching Band Contest on Thursday, December 5th. Prepare your inner Grinch, because lineup begins at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Broadway. The parade—packed with more holiday spirit than even the Grinch can handle—will kick off promptly at 6:30 p.m.

While we appreciate your enthusiasm, we strongly encourage pre-registration for lineup. If you can’t muster the holiday cheer in time, we’ll begrudgingly accept last-minute entries upon arrival.

Closer to the date, we’ll send out the parade route and your assigned parade number. Just a friendly Grinchy reminder: No candy tossing from vehicles or floats! We don’t want to see any Whos down in Whoville (or Tecumseh) getting hurt. Instead, recruit some of Santa's (or the Grinch’s) helpers to walk alongside your float and hand out goodies to the eager crowd.

We ask that your float captures the spirit of Grinchmas—think lots of green, lots of grouch! But if your creative juices are flowing in another holiday direction, all Christmas-themed floats, businesses, vehicles, organizations, horses, and more are welcome to join. Just one thing: No real Grinches allowed! We’ve got the one and only Grinch lined up to star in the parade and for photos afterward.

Once the parade wraps up, join us in City Hall for a whimsical Whoville extravaganza. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Grinch himself will be available for FREE photos—and he might even crack a smile! Warm up with hot chocolate, courtesy of the Chamber, and enjoy dinner from nearby food trucks. We’ll have family-friendly activities designed to make the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes, right before your eyes. Don’t forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy, stuffed animal, or blanket to donate to local nonprofits—because even the Grinch knows the joy of giving!

Grinchmas Float Judging Criteria

Our panel of secret, highly critical judges will be on the lookout for the most Grinch-tastic floats. Here’s what they’ll be judging:

• Overall Appearance (0-25 Points)

  • Does the float look like it’s straight out of Grinchmas?
  • Does it spread holiday cheer (or sneers)?
  • Does it represent the spirit of Tecumseh and the Chamber?

• Construction Quality (0-25 Points)

  • How well is your float cobbled together?
  • Is it sturdy enough to survive the parade (and a Grinchy inspection)?
  • Is it safe for all Whos aboard?

• Originality (0-15 Points)

  • Is your float something even the Grinch hasn’t seen before?
  • Does it creatively capture the Grinchmas theme?

• Extra Points (0-10 Points)

  • Awarded for: moveable parts, clever gimmicks, and any extra Grinchiness that also embodies Tecumseh!
