About Us
Emerald View Turf Farms' mission is our promise to provide top quality turf combined with our professional services to create our visual trademark - an "emerald view" at each and every job site.
Since 1951 we have provided top quality turfgrass to St. Louis and its surrounding areas. We begin by paying top dollar for the very best seed varieties and vegetative stock. We continue our commitment throughout the growing cycle with a rigorous care program that ensures top quality upon harvesting. No turf leaves the field before its time and all product is cut to order to provide our customers with farm fresh turf at all times. Decades of experience and a professional staff allow us to always deliver top quality products and services. This quality commitment is what has made Emerald View Turf Farms the premium turf providers for Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Field Selection: Production ground must be of acceptable sod quality. Our fields consist of silty loams, sandy silts, clay loams, etc. Areas with less desirable soils, such as black clay, are simply not used.
Quality Inputs: We use only gold tag, sod quality seed. We review national data and test our varieties in the St. Louis area before adding them to our blends. Fertilizer must be turf grade. Agricultural grade fertilizers often contain nutrient sources that can be detrimental to turfgrass health. Turf-labeled bio-stimulants, such as seaweed extracts, are used to promote root growth and overall viability of the plants.
Optimum Seeding Rates: We implement conservative seeding rates to ensure that your turf will consist of strong plants, better able to survive the stress of transplanting. High seeding rates often allow farms to move turf sooner, but result in weaker plants.
Knowledge and Expert Care: Fertilization is done to coincide with each grass type's growing cycle, so that the plant gets the most out of each feeding. Mowers are kept sharp to minimize the tearing of grass blades, which will brown-out the top of the turf.
Freshness: All turfgrass is cut to order, at least within 24 hours of delivery (usually less than 12), to minimize the generation of heat in the pallet and drying on the edges.
