Annual Activities


Memorial Day observances held at:
  • Green Hill Cemetery - Honor Guards leave Court house square at 7:50am.  Arrive at Greenhill at approximately 8:00 am.  This service includes presentation by the Post commander, a guest speaker, 21 gun salute and taps, to honor our fallen veterans.
  • American Legion Post - Following the Cemetery program, we reconvene at the Post for a short ceremony at our Post memorial and then we serve breakfast for those who attend the ceremonies.
  • Jonathan Creek Church (This service is conducted on the Sunday proceeding Memorial day).
  • Moultrie County Memorial Park Cemetery 10:30am.
Flag Day, June 14th
  • Flag disposal ceremony at the American Legion Post
Fourth of July Celebration
  • Parade
  • Lunch for parade participants
  • Week long carnival activities
  • Annual Turtle Race
  • Watermelon eating contest
  • Sack races
  • Family fun all day long!
  • Fireworks Display
Homecoming
  • Color Guard leads the homecoming parade 
  • Alum & community celebration at our Post
Veterans Day
  • Present colors and Rifle Salute
    • at the Sullivan Elementary School Community Veterans Day Salute
    • at the Sullivan High School Veterans Day Program
    • at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Courtyard Estates and Mason Point 
Of all the parades and ceremonies our Post and our Color Guard members participate in, the most important one is our providing services to the families of deceased veterans as we conduct a flag folding ceremony, a 21 gun rifle salute and taps, at funeral services honoring the life and service of the fallen veteran.
